Unit activities may resume – all precautions to be observed

Dear Members,

We are pleased to announce that under the regulation amendments resulting from the schools opening, we are giving the go-ahead for Unit meetings to resume under reasonable precautions to prevent the spread of Covid. Find the revised SSA regulations here: SCOUTS SA Safety-plan-for-SSA-members-Revised Level 3-25 Feb 2021.

I would also like to remind our members who are keen to get out and Scouting of two important aspects:

  1. The experts are still predicting a potential third wave as winter nears. So, we need to remain vigilant as we start to interact at these larger unit meetings and stick to the 3D’s in all our activities.
  2. While we have made every attempt to ensure these rules comply with the legalities of the Gazetted Government regulations, not everyone’s interpretation might be the same. If such a situation would arise, your RC or the National office are available to engage with local authorities to address the concerns raised in order to get you back in action as soon as possible.

And last but not least, remember to take care of yourselves. These added precautions on top of the stresses of Covid are not easy and we acknowledge that.  You are doing an incredible job! The continued interaction between our youth members and adult volunteers reminds us all that there are people out there who care about our wellbeing and who need us. Keep up the great work.

Yours in Scouting,

Brendon Hausberger
