The Courses

 

Leadership Development Course level 1:

The LDC 1 is meant to provide initial Patrol Leader training to young Scouts working towards their Traveller Advancement Badge.

LDC 1 is a course that introduces you to being a leader, as well as how to plan and run patrol meetings, activities and camps.

 

 

Leadership Development Course level 2:

The LDC 2 is meant to provide initial Patrol Leader training to young Scouts working towards their Discoverer Advancement Badge.

The LDC 2 is a course that introduces you to being a leader, as well as How to Instruct and basic leadership skills.

 

 

Patrol Leader Training Course:

The PLTC is designed to provide intermediate Patrol Leader training to PLs and APLs and is an optional requirement for First Class in the Scout Programme.

PLTC should ideally be attended by PLs and APLs who are about to or have just embarked on their First Class. The course focuses on leadership opportunities and experiences, as well as camp, hike and project planning, among other skills and theory.

 

Patrol Leader Training Unit:

The PLTU courses are one of the finest challenges on the South African Scouting calendar. Exciting outdoor activities support the specialised leadership training you will receive during ten tough, but achievement filled, days.

The courses are staffed by fellow Scouts and Scouters/Rovers who have previously risen to the PLTU challenge. Attend one of these stimulating adventure courses and learn the skills that will make you far more effective leaders, both in your Patrols and in your everyday life. What you learn will benefit you long after the course has ended.

44th Weston PLTU – 12-21 July 2021

The Patrol Leader Training Unit (PLTU) courses are one of the finest challenges on the South African Scouting calendar. Exciting outdoor activities support the specialized leadership training you will receive during ten tough, but achievement filled, days.

The courses are staffed by fellow Scouts and Scouters/Rovers who have previously risen to the PLTU challenge. Join us on this stimulating adventure course and learn the skills that will make you far more effective leaders, both in your Patrols and in your everyday life. What you learn will benefit you long after the course has ended.

Where: Gilwell Scouting Centre, Florida Lake, Johannesburg, South Africa.
When: The course takes place from Monday 12 July 2021 (08:00) to 21 July 2021 (21:00).
Cost: R3 150, but if paid on or before 10 June 2021 a R150 discount will be applied making it R3 000. This includes accommodation levies, meals, activities, 2 T-shirts, a cap, a scarf and comprehensive support material. In addition, participants commonly carry R100 – R250 pocket money, paid in advance.
Who: All Scouts/Rangers between the ages of 14½ and 17 with leadership potential in their Unit and a minimum of Discoverer/Level 2.
Closing Date: 20 June 2021
Penalty: A R75 administration fee is levied on incomplete/incorrect application forms received.
