Africa’s future is shaped by the actions we take today.

AfricaAfrica Day reminds us that Africa’s future is shaped by the actions we take today. This Africa Day, we celebrate the power of young people across our continent: learning together, leading with purpose, and helping to build the Africa we want.

As our Continent celebrates 63 years of Unity, Integration and Development since the founding of the Organisation of African Unity, we also recognise this year’s African Union theme: “Assuring Sustainable Water Availability and Safe Sanitation Systems to Achieve the Goals of Agenda 2063.”

Today’s challenges need young people who are ready to lead change. At SCOUTS South Africa, we believe children and youth are not just the leaders of tomorrow, they are active citizens today. Through our and our strategic focus on active citizenship, community impact and environmental responsibility, young people throughout the country are shaping conversations, taking action, and building stronger communities.

From community projects and environmental action to programmes like Life Leaders and our ‘Be Water Safe’ National Challenge, Scouts are learning that even small actions can create a lasting impact.

At the recent Africa Scout Day event hosted by SCOUTS South Africa we celebrated how strong roots, solidified by values and skills, enable bright futures by active citizens. So today, as we celebrate Africa Day, we are reminded that strong roots in shared values, service and leadership will continue to inspire bright futures — with young people leading the way towards the goals of Agenda 2063.
