As part of SCOUTS SA’s National Challenge 2026 ‘ Be Water Safe’, supported by the Jared Payne Foundation, Scouts across the country are learning how to stay safe in and around water, and how to share that knowledge with others.
So, here’s a fun COMPETITION for the month of April where Scout Patrols can share their creativity on our Official SCOUTS SA Facebook Group and could stand a chance to win two multifunctional camping lights (they double as power banks) for their Patrol kit.
This competition also supports the Awareness Requirement for Scouts aged 11–17: “As a Patrol, create a short skit, song, or rap about safe and unsafe behaviour around water, and present it at a Troop meeting or campfire.”

How to enter:
- Create and record an original skit, song, or rap about water safety*
- Ask your Troop Scouter to approve your entry
- Upload your video to the SCOUTS South Africa (Official) Facebook Group
- Ask your friends and family to follow the SCOUTS SA (Official) Facebook Group and like your post 👍
How to win:
The TOP five videos with the MOST LIKES by 31 May 2026 will be selected as finalists. The National Scout Programme Team will select the winning video.

You must be registered SCOUTS SA Scouts (this means you are on Scouts.Digital)- Your entry (lyrics & music) must be 100% original or use Copyright Free music.*

- You need to enter as a Patrol to qualify & for the requirement to be ticked off for your National Challenge
- Video requirements:
- All videos need to be between min.30 seconds to max. 90 seconds.
- Scouts need to be identifiable as Scouts – meaning wearing their purple SCOUTS SA t-shirts + Group Scarf or their SCOUTS SA uniform.
- Prior consent from all parents of the Scouts in the video needs to be obtained before posting on SCOUTS SA’s social media.
*The music used must either be your own creation or must be “Free to Use for Commercial Use” / No Copyright”. (No copyrighted music can be used as SCOUTS SA is a registered NGO and Copyright Law applies. Should a song that isn’t free be used, they will be disqualified from entry.)
