With Akela we only cook delicious food!

There are many skills Cubs learn through doing. One of the most popular ones is how to cook outdoors over a fire. We spoke to Galaletsang Legegeru (9) from 5th St. Peter’s Cub Pack in the Free State.

Cubbing is so much fun because we sing, pray and learn many things.

SSA: What was your best experience with Cubs?
My best experience was when we hiked to the Mangaung Fire station.

SSA: What is the weirdest thing you ate outdoors?
There was nothing weird that I ate. With Akela we only cook delicious food!

SSA: What was the toughest challenge at Cubs?
The toughest challenge at Cubs is going hiking.

SSA: What was the most amazing place you visited with Cubs?
The most amazing place we visited was the Erlichpark Fire Station.

SSA: Can you name a few things you have learnt by being a Cub?
I learnt different knots and many new games.

SSA: What things have you done with Cubs to help people in your community?
On Mandela Day we gave out food and blankets. I am a messenger of peace.

SSA: What did you teach your mum that you learned at Cubs?
I taught my mum how to make a fire outdoors and how to cook on a fire.

SSA: What makes a good Akela?
A good Akela must love kids!

SSA: Why is your Akela special?
My Akela is special because she always has something new to teach as like games or arts.

Cubbing Rocks because … we meet new friends and we learn every time!
