Good day all DCs, TSs & ATSs,

Attached and below are all the details you need for the Troop Scouters’ Adventure.  This is going to be great fun, and at a beautiful venue. It’s an ideal opportunity for you to socialise with your fellow Scouters.

Every District should make an effort to attend (this event only clashed with PLTC).

If you cannot provide a full District team (min 5 Scouters), we can add you to another team.

Venue:
Maretlwane Experience https://www.maretlwane.co.za/ – This is a beautiful private nature reserve on the Maretlwane river.
Google maps: Search for ”Maretlwane Experience”  (not just “Maretlwane”)

Directions:

  • Allow 2hrs travel time from Johannesburg (~120km) and 1hr15 from Pretoria (~80km)
  • Take N4 to Mooinooi – Pass through the town travelling South, towards the Magaliesberg mountains
  • After leaving the town, at the T-junction turn left onto the R104
  • Immediately after the Mooinooi Post Office Boxes, turn right onto a dirt road
  • Google maps: Search for ”Maretlwane Experience”  (not just “Maretlwane”)
  • Gate code will be provided closer to the event date – lock the gate after passing through
  • Follow the road to the “Bush School” (not the “Lodge”)

Event description:

The Troop Scouters’ Adventure is  a fun event for TSs to get to know each other better while having fun. The event will be structured similar to Kim Shield with the theme of Lord of the Rings. The activities are suited to anyone with reasonable fitness (nothing extreme).

A patrol of Troop Scouters (which may include ATSs) from each District will compete against each other in a variety of Scoutcraft skills.

Each District should contribute and manage a base at the event. Suggestions will be provided.

This is a fun event, an opportunity to participate in some innovative activities and do some team building with your colleagues. Do not miss it!

Activities:
Orienteering, Pioneering, Kloofing, Swimming, Hiking, Camp Fire, Community Service, Hiking (not extreme), plus more.
