Why is Census important?

It’s that time of the year again – CENSUS! We know that completing Census forms takes time. However, the information we gather from these forms helps us as a Scout Movement to assess where we are, and to strategise where we need to offer more support to grow.

Scout Groups are asked to count their numbers, both youth and adult volunteers, as at 30 September 2024 and complete this CENSUS FORM before the 25th of October 2024.

This information will be received and then shared by our CEO with the Regional Census Rep and/or Regional Commissioner, who will verify and collate the final numbers for each Region, which needs to be completed and submitted to the National Office by 31 October 2024.

The Regional Census reps are: Eastern Cape South Shannon Bratt, Free State Sello Legegeru, Gauteng Debbie Symons, KZN Lynton Cloete, Limpopo Elizabeth Mabuza, Mpumalanga Alice Mandazi, North West Pablo Mogotsi, Northern Cape Nolan van der Merwe and Western Cape Jenny Martin.

Try to think of Census this way:

  • To know if we are growing, we need to know who you are!
  • To develop our youth and adult support programmes, we need to know where you are!
  • To find and share project funding, we need to know what your needs are and those of your communities.
  • To ensure the Scout Shop has the stock you need at better prices, we need to know how many members we have and where they are at in their Scouting journeys.
  • To ensure the sustainability of Scouting in SA we need to report to our supporters and World Scouting. Your input is critical for us to be able to do so correctly and transparently.

So, in short, we are counting on you to help us be accountable, to help us know where we are at, and to enable us to Shape the Future of Scouting in South Africa Together!

We are Counting on YOU!
