“Draw Your Dream” and make it a reality to be part of the 25th World Scout Jamboree, which is to be held at SaeManGeum, Jeollabuk-do, Republic of Korea from the 1st to 12th August 2023.
The SCOUTS South Africa Jamboree Contingent will depart on 24th July 2023 to Korea to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree and return on 14th August 2023.
The World Scout Jamboree will bring together over 50,000 Scouts and Adult Leaders from all over the world. It takes place every four years, and only Scouts between the ages of 14 and 18 are eligible to attend.
The 25th World Scout Jamboree experience will enable young people to realise their dreams, make friendships with people from different cultures around the world, and take part in a safe, inclusive, and sustainable programme.
The Programme is designed around several core elements: Scouting for Life, Smart & Scientific, Safe & Secure, Sustainability, and ACT: Adventure, Culture, Tradition.
In a bid to further expand the horizons of the participating Scouts, and to give them more insight into Korean history and culture, a pre-tour is being arranged that will include visits to Seoul, the DMZ between South and North Korea, as well as tours of various monuments, museums, and other attractions.
Scouts may also experience first-hand a more intimate part of Korean life as part of the Home Hospitality programme (HoHo), where they will get to share the daily life of a Korean family as an honoured guest of a host Korean family for a few days prior to the beginning of the Jamboree.
Operation-K Solidarity Programme
As part of their efforts in hosting the 25th World Scout Jamboree, the Jamboree organisers, in collaboration with the Korean government, have launched the Operation-K Solidarity Programme to ensure that as many Scouts as possible are able to attend the event regardless of their socio-economic circumstances.
Through the programme they are assisting with partial funding for nine South African Scouts and one Adult Leader.
Operation-K is a three-way funded programme and is subject to sufficient funds required being raised. Some financial support is provided by the 25WSJ organisers, and the balance is required from self-funding by the applicant and the majority through donations and financial support from donors.
Grab this opportunity of a lifetime!
If you would like to attend the Jamboree but are perhaps not able to afford the full Jamboree fee, an estimated cost of R60,000 per participant, you can apply to be a recipient of the Operation-K Solidarity Programme funding assistance. As Project-K is based on financial circumstances, proof of current financial standing will need to be provided.
